1. Tjörnin lake
Tjörnin is a small lake in central Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Although it is not among the biggest lakes in the country, it is one of the best known. Most visitors to Reykjavík pass along its shore, as it is situated in the city centre next to the Reykjavik City Hall and several museums. The University of Iceland is also close by. The Tjörnin Pond in December with a frost free area for the water birds. Tjörnin has long been a favorite spot for bringing young children to see and feed the ducks, seagulls, swans and geese that reside there.
2. Reykjavik Zoo & Family Park
The Zoo section opened 1990. It’s main focus is on Icelandic farm animals as well as several wild native species. 19 animal species counting about 150 individuals live in the Zoo. We emphasize on showing as much variety in colours and variations as well as both genders and its young ones. In the Zoo you will find: Horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, foxes, minks, reindeers, seals, hens, chickens, turkey, pigeons, rabbits, guinea pigs, geese, ducks, dogs and cats. Presently we also have some rear visitors, wild birds that need treatment.
3. Thermal Pools
Reykjavik’s thermal pools are open from early morning until late in the evening; swimming costumes and towels are available for a small fee. A ten-visit season ticket is valid for all the city pools. There is simply no cheaper or healthier way to experience Reykjavik and to get to know the locals!

Reykjavik's main shopping street, Laugavegur, runs through the city centre. On Laugavegur, its side streets and on the neighbouring street Skolavordustigur (leading up to Hallgrimskirkja church), you will find everything from designer labels to streetwear in addition to jewellery, arts and crafts, quirky souvenirs and unique Icelandic design products.
8. Museums
Reykjavik museums offer a great combination of fun and learning. The National Museum and Saga Museum allow the children to experience in an interactive way how the Vikings fought and feasted. Live actors at the open-air Reykjavik City Museum - Arbaejarsafn offer an insight into how people in Reykjavik lived in the old days.
