1. Eiffel Tower


The Eiffel tower was made from iron in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel. So far it had over 220 million visitors , over 6 million people in each year. Everyone who visits Paris has to take the elevator to the top of the tower to realize that beautiful view of Paris from the viewing platforms. From the highest platform the view is breathtaking.


 

 

 

 

2. Seine River

Seine river flows from Dijon to the English channel through Paris. This river is the soul of Paris. There are many old bridges, older than France, which you can visit during a boat tour. If you cruising down the river this is the best way to see the City of Lights, and the most famous sights of Paris.

 

 

3. Notre Dame Cathedral

On your first visit to Paris, you must visit Notre Dame Cathedral. The cathedral is located one of Seine river’s natural island. It was build between 1163-1345. Represents the French Gothic Architecture. This is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe with its dramatic towers. Take a walk around the cathedral and walk up the 387 steps to the top of the towers and the view will take your breath.

 

 

 

4. Champs Elysees & Arc de Triomphe

Paris’s most famous avenue is the Champs Elysees. Everyone who visits Paris must see this sight as well. Along the avenue there are many cafés and shops. The colossal arch was planned by Napoleon and the generals names are engraved in the top of it. The arch was finished by 1836. You can take a lift to visit it or you can climb 284 steps to reach it.

 

 

5. Louvre

The Louvre is a world class museum and it is one of the best sights of Paris. It is located in a palace which used by French kings. It is open from 1793 to the public. There are many different wings of the Lovre and every of them introduce different periods of history and art. You can find over 35,000 pieces of paintings, artworks, furniture, and artifacts. The palace has its own history as well from the medieval ages to the present. You must visit the Tuileires gardens which is perfect for a pre or post visit. This museum is the world’s largest art museum which presents some of the greatest works, such a Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo.

 

6. Napoleon’s Tomb

King Louis Philippe commissioned the architect Visconti in 1842 to bulid Napoleon’s Tomb. Napoleon’s body was laid there on 2nd of april in 1861. In this monument the nation honors this man. The dome is made by gold, and the structure was used for the San Francisco City Hall as a model. The nearby museum shows France’s military heritage. Many flags and banners from their battles are located in the church there such as the Flag of Farewell which was kissed by Napoleon when he was banished to Elba Island. Many members from Napoleon’s family and other war heroes buried here also.

 

 

7. Montmarte & Sacre Couer Basilica

130 meter tall hill, Montmarte I the highest point of North Paris. On the top there is Sacré Couer Basilica, which domes you can see from many points in the city. The basilica represents talso Romanesque and Byzantine architecture and it was consecrated in 1919. If you climbe to the top you will realize that breathtaking view of Paris.

8. Musee d'Orsay

Musee d’Orsay is for those who loves arts, mainly if they like impressionist paintings. It is placed in an ordinary railway station which represents arts between 1848-1915, with paintings from Renoir, Monet, Manet, Van Gogh and many more. The museum’s interioir itself is a work of art with beautiful view from one end of the renovated Belle Epoque train station to the other.

9. The Paris Opera House

This opera house was inspired The Phantom of the Opera. This building is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. It is so elegant and wonderful both inside and out. The performance hall’s history of this opera house is interesting and dark and spans from music to architecture and literature.

 

10. Versailles

Versailles is located 17 miles away from Paris. You should visit if you are interested in French culture and architecture. A French king was built the palace at the peak of French power. The grounds and the palace are very beautiful. For many years this has been the site of elegance. The gardens are full of statues and when you walk around you feel like you are in another world. A Venetian gondola was sailed in the waterways of the garden at one point.

The Night Sightseeing cruises from the Eiffel past many of the major sights along the river to a bit past the Notre Dame Cathedral where they turn around and return to the departure point. This is the most affordable sunset cruise option, but there are also other dinner cruises available.
